Sun or Ascendant in Aquarius with Ray 3   .	Sun Aquarius (or Ascendant Aquarius), R3P or R3S Plus Constellationally Transmitted R5 A moderate mutual reinforcement of ray and astrological energies due to the transmission of the third ray through the personality aspect of Uranus, the exoteric ruler of Aquarius, and through Moon’s third ray associations—the Moon being the hierarchical ruler of Aquarius. Uranus also is one of three veiled hierarchical rulers of Aquarius. Considered in relation to the planets alone, the operative category of reinforcement would be Moderate by Rulership. Uranus is a sacred planet and so its personality ray {in this case hypothesized as the third} is subsumed under its soul ray—the seventh. Nevertheless, the third ray of Uranus is effective in relation to most people, who respond to this energy with mobility {albeit, somewhat hectic}. Uranus rules all “migrations” and displacements. The Moon {however symbolically}, and the veiled hierarchical rulers Uranus and Neptune {but excluding Vulcan}, both have third ray associations—Uranus as indicated, and Vulcan through its “Trident” and associations with water/matter. Further, the third ray may be one of those unspecified rays—along with the fifth ray—constellationally transmitted through Aquarius. The Tibetan has stated the importance of the third ray in relation to Aquarius. {EA 138} The additional operative category of reinforcement would be Probable by Constellational Transmission. From the decanate perspective, both Saturn and Mercury transmit the third ray—Saturn directly and powerfully through its monad and probably soul, and Mercury, probably through its personality. Saturn rules the first and third decanate {esoterically and exoterically, respectively} and Mercury rules the central decanate both esoterically and exoterically}
Selfish, Self-Centered or Self-Serving Human Being	Selfish, Self-centered or Self-Serving Human Being i.    The superficial scatter and extroversion of the self-absorbed Aquarius person combines with the disorganized hyperactivity induced within the insufficiently spiritualized personality by the third ray. ii.      Hyperactivity, and associated disruptions of persons and environments. iii.     Superficial.  Disjointed. iv.     Disorganization at times bordering on chaos. v.      Terminal over-extension. vi.     Extroversion to an extreme degree. The throat center may be highly activated, with a torrent of thoughts pouring forth upon the unwary. vii.      Wildly theoretical. Disconnected from natural life. viii.    Living in a state of perpetual over-stimulation. ix.     A reduction of activity and a centralized focus are required if there is every to be effective manifestation.

A.     Aquarius Expresses the Third Ray: The sign Aquarius is actually considered a of transmitter of the third ray; “the third ray expresses itself powerfully through this sign” (EA 138) B.     Related to the Holy Spirit: Both Aquarius and the third ray can be understood as related to “God the Holy Spirit”. C.     Related by Numerical Affinity: As Aquarius is the third sign on the clockwise wheel, it is related to the third ray by numerical affinity. D.     Related to the Etheric Body: Aquarius is related to the etheric body (cf. EA 303), and so is the third ray (for the etheric body is the third vehicle of the four personality vehicles). The network of nadis (involved in the transmission of vital-electric energy, and in nervous transmission) can readily be understood as reflective of both Aquarius and the third ray. E.     Emotional Detachment: Both influences share a tendency towards emotional detachment. F.     Breadth of Thought: Both energies incline the mind to think widely. G.     Mobility and Constant Movement: Both energies have great activity and mobility associated with them. “Aquarius is pre-eminently a sign of constant movement, of changing activity and recurrent mutations, and the symbol for the sign is expressive of this state of activity.” (EA 141) The third ray is, of course, the Ray of Activity. H.     Extension and Decentralization: Both energies are associated with such dynamics as extension, decentralization, dispersion, circulation, scatter, etc. I.    Extroversion: Psychologically, both energies are involved in the phenomenon of extroversion. “The average man in Aquarius puts all his wares into the window, and often in the room behind the window there is little to be found”. (EA 136) As well, the Tibetan speaks of “those who become strongly extroverted by the desire to impose the conclusions they have reached (through their one-pointed mental focus) upon their fellow men.  This constitutes quite often the crux of the difficulty for the third and sixth ray people”. (EP II 462) J.      The Law of Service—Third Law: Aquarius is the sign of service, the “world server”. The Law of Service is the third Law of the Soul, thus linking it, by numerical affinity, to the third ray. K.     Cycles and Cyclicity: Both influences are related to the concept of cyclicity. In Aquarius cycles “the significance of cycles is mastered and understood by the initiate” (EA 141), and the third ray rules “rotary motion”, the basis of the understanding of cycles. L.     Relation to Two Planes of the Triad: Both Aquarius and the third ray can be understood as related to two planes of the Spiritual Triad—the plane of the abstract mind (the manasic plane) and the plane of the spiritual will (the atmic plane). M.     Economic Issues: Both Aquarius and the third ray are related to economic issues. In the Aquarian Age, humanity must learn the value of sharing and right distribution. These are issues which pertain as well to the third ray, which governs the flow and distribution of money and resources. Together, in a way, these energies determine what shall be vitalized and ‘fed’ and what shall not. N.     Related to the Third Initiation: These two energies, as well, can be seen as related to the third initiation. Aquarius is definitely so: “In Aquarius—In this sign, the long effort of the soul is consummated and concludes the experience of the disciple upon the Fixed Cross. The man then takes the third initiation and becomes free from personality control, taking the next two initiations upon the Cardinal Cross.” (EA 144). The third ray has numerical affinity with the third initiation, at which time the scale of consciousness is definitely tipped in favor of the soul.
