Secondarily, (assuredly, but not exclusively) Virgo transmits
R4, R4, R6, R1, and R2 through Mercury, the Moon, the veiled Neptune,
the veiled Vulcan, and, also, Jupiter—all these are its planetary
rulers on three levels—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical.

Secondarily, (assuredly, but not exclusively) transmits R7, R2

Associated with the stages immediately preceding the ‘birthing’,
form-regulating first initiation (EA 67, 471); then, with the cleansing, purifying
second initiations, and possibly with the decisive, Monad-establishing
sixth (introduction to true monadic living)
|
|
11.
Association with refuse-flushing, fire-cleansing, fellowship-inducing
second initiation; the ego-negating, light-pervading, soul-inspiring
third initiation; the personality-renouncing, life-energizing
fourth initiation; and, conceivably, with the abundant
life of the beneficently organizing fifth degree.
|
12. Virgo can be reasonably
understood as influencing, particularly, the cherishing, patient,
maternally-loving heart center (through the second ray),
and the persistently devoted solar plexus center (through
the sixth). In addition to its influence upon a number of smaller,
sub-diaphragmatic centers associated with the solar plexus,
Virgo must have an influence upon the ajna center—as
an organ of discrimination and discernment. The mysteries of
generation are ruled by the Moon, which rules Virgo esoterically;
a sacral center association is, thereby, reasonable. The six
of the sacral center leads to the twelve of the
heart.
|
|
12. Aquarius can be reasonably
associated with the entire abundantly-radiating, synthetic crown
center, and the united radiation of the chakra centers as a
whole. When the ajna center responds to the universal
mind, the envisioning of the archetypally-destined future appears.
Aquarius transmits the third ray, and thus relates to the throat
center (through ruling Saturn, Uranus and Vulcan as well). Aquarius,
is esoterically ruled by Jupiter, the planet controlling the
group-inclusive heart center. The evolving Aquarian is
subject to many emotional highs and lows, thus connecting Aquarius
to the solar plexus center. (EA 141-142) Also, through
Uranus, with the form-creating sacral center which generates
“waters of life” in a more material sense. As well, seventh-ray
Uranus is numerically related to the seventh or basal center,
bringing Aquarius into the relation.
|
13.
The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Virgo is powerful
in monadic life because the second manifested Creative Hierarchy
(Who are the “prototypes of the Monads”—TCF
1197) are ruled by Virgo and its hierarchical ruler, Jupiter.
One motivation of the descending Monad is the perfection of matter
(in this case, the substance of the first solar system). With
this mission, Virgo is intimately concerned.
|
|
13.
The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Aquarius governs
the large monadic groups or ‘monadic ashrams’, which aggregations
exist upon the monadic plane. The universal awareness of
the Monad is inspired and enhanced by the Aquarian energy. The
Monad is a ‘center of synthesis’ and a ‘center within synthesis’.
The Aquarian energy stimulates the universality and synthetic
awareness of the Monad.
|
14.
Within the Triad—Virgo ( esoterically ruled in part by Neptune,
and hierarchically by second ray Jupiter, and transmitting, itself,
the second ray), is related primarily to buddhi (the
second aspect of the Triad), bestowing as it does the second
ray and a higher correspondence to “mother love”—a divine, maternal
compassion. Virgo is also associated with the third ray, and the
third divine aspect, and hence, even if indirectly, with higher
manas, the third triadal aspect.
|
|
14.
Within the Triad—Aquarius is related principally to higher
manas and to atma as both of them reflect, to differing
degrees, the Universal Mind (EA 241, 322, 495). Aquarius transmits the third
ray constellationally (EA 138), and has rulers or sub-rulers which
do the same. Aquarius “expresses the universal consciousness of
the Great Bear” linking it to atma, in yet another way.
The energy of Aquarius, as well, stimulates and blends with buddhi,
principally by inducing loving group-cohesion. The Tibetan speaks
of “universal love of the truly developed Aquarian.” (EA 136) This is an expression of buddhi.
|
15.
In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and
causal body) through which it expresses—Virgo, like Cancer, can
be seen in the ‘mother’ role—with Virgo providing a nurturing
and discriminatively cleansing energy, utilized by the
Solar Angel to improve the quality of its personality manifestation.
Virgo, as the Solar Angel expresses it, is the will to manifest
love intelligently through matter, until the Christ energy pours
successfully through the personality-form and a relative perfection
is reached.
|
|
15.
In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and
causal body) through which it expresses—Aquarius represents the
dowering of the personality with all super-human, transcendental
gifts which the Solar Angel may safely bestow. Aquarius represents
the patient service of the Solar Angel to its long-developing
personality, and the consequent elevation of the human soul from
the human to the super-human state of the fifth kingdom—the Kingdom
of Souls. Aquarius rules the generous distribution of beneficent
Solar-Angelic radiation to (and through) its personality
|
16.
Within the Personality—Virgo can be identified with the discriminative,
analytical, and selective processes of the lower
mental nature; with the cleansing and purification
of the astral nature; with the magnetic purity of the etheric
nature; with the general health and nutrition and
of the dense physical vehicle. Virgo, via the Moon, is particularly
related to the dense physical vehicle and to all personality substance
as a whole. (EA 194) (The
vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the
stage of evolutionary development.)
|
|
16.
Within the Personality—Aquarius can be identified with the power
to vitalize, unify and synthesize thought, which
eventually develops within the lower mental nature; with the cleansing,
drying, and eventual distributive radiation of the
love-responsive astral nature; with the electric vitalization
of the etheric nature; and, in general, with the nervous animation
of the dense physical form. Aquarius “is eventually connected with the physical permanent atom.”
(EA 302) (The
vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the
stage of evolutionary development.)
|
17.

1.
Expressive of both the second and third aspects
of divinity, but especially well-rooted in the third. “Virgo
is the focal point for the expression of the third aspect, that
of active intelligence. In that sign the highest function of
matter is symbolised.” (EA 194, also 280)
|
|
1.
Expressive, principally, of the third divine aspect “…the
third ray expresses itself powerfully through this sign” (EA
138)—strongly connected, however, with both the first
and second aspects. “At
this time and in a peculiar manner, the initiate-consciousness
sees the Hierarchy as primarily energised by life, and by the
energy of Aquarius, carrying a hitherto unknown aspect of the
life energy of deity.” (R&I 229) Aquarius rules Hierarchy.
“…our Hierarchy [is] (an expression
of the second aspect of divinity)…” (EA197)
|
2.
Cosmically associated principally with the Pleiades. “One of the most esoteric cycles is based upon certain conjunctions and respective
positions of Virgo and the Pleiades.” (EA 657) “Virgo is inseparable
from Leo and the Pleiades and the Hyades.” (EA 679) Virgo is related to several feminine
constellations which figure importantly in the astrology of
the form. “There is Cassiopea,
Venus, Coma Berenice, Andromeda and one or two others, as well
as Virgo, the Virgin, the most important of them all.” (EA 400)
|
|
2.
Strong cosmic association with the Pole Star, Alcyone, also
an invisible constellation, and the Great Bear: “The
influence which emanates from the Pole Star and which is such
a potent factor in our solar system reaches our planet via the
sign Aquarius.” (TCF 1263)
“Aquarius, Alcyone and Humanity constitute a most interesting
triangle of force. Alcyone is one of the seven Pleiades and
is called the ‘star of the Individual’ and sometimes the ‘star
of intelligence’.” (EA 200) “The source of energy to which they
respond may be regarded as the Pole Star. It should nevertheless
be pointed out that this star serves only as a blind for a constellation
which lies behind,—a constellation which exists only in etheric
matter. It is consequently ignored by astronomers, though its
influence is exceedingly potent within our system.” (TCF 1262)
Also, “Aquarius—expresses the universal consciousness of
the Great Bear.” (EA 349)

Aquarius
|
1.
Virgo transmits the second ray constellationally. Virgo
is also the eleventh sign of the zodiac, counting by polarities
(Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, Gemini-etc.), which reinforces its
resonance with the second ray.
|
|
1.
Aquarius is the eleventh sign on the reversed wheel. Since
eleven sums to two, Aquarius has numerical affinity with
the second ray. Jupiter, the esoteric ruler of Aquarius,
transmits the second ray. Neptune, a Moon-veiled hierarchical
ruler, transmits the second ray monadically. Vulcan (a
Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) is associated with the “heart
of the Sun” (EA ), and Uranus (exoteric ruler) is placed in
a line of second ray transmission from Sirius, and participates
in the three lower vehicles (probably as the mental body) of
a great second ray Entity (EPII 99)
|
2.
Virgo transmits the sixth ray constellationally. |
|
2.
Neptune (a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) transmits the
sixth ray. Enthusiastic Jupiter has a probable connection
to the sixth ray.
|
3.
Virgo (the second oldest of the constellations) is associated
with the third ray—the ray of the previous solar system.
“…it might be said that Cancer
is an expression (in the stage of great advancement) of the first
half of the life cycle in solar system one, whilst Virgo is an
equally advanced expression of the second half” (EA 256). |
|
3.
“The third ray expresses itself powerfully through” Aquarius
constellationally. (EA 138). Aquarius is also the third sign of
the zodiac on the clock-wise wheel, therefore having numerical
affinity with the third ray. Uranus transmits the third
ray (probably through its personality) as does Saturn (considered
an alternative ruler in this sign) through its Monad, and probably,
also, its soul. The Moon-veiled Uranus also transmits the third
ray.
|
4.
Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac on the reversed wheel
and, hence, has numerical affinity with the number six
and with the sixth ray.
|
|
4.
See #2 above.
|
5.
Virgo is the seventh sign of the zodiac on the clockwise
wheel, IF one begins numbering from Pisces (which the Tibetan
does in relation to the sign, Leo). This seventh position
reinforces Virgo’s relationship to the sevnth ray.
|
|
5.
Uranus transmits the seventh ray. Saturn has strong seventh
ray associations. Jupiter (esoteric ruler) transmits the seventh
ray. |
6.
Mercury is the exoteric ruler of Virgo (and also exalted) and
transmits the fourth ray.
|
|
6.
The Moon (hierarchical ruler) is the veiling transmitter of the
fourth ray. Moon-veiled Vulcan is closely related to the
fourth ray, the fourth kingdom, and the fourth
initiation. Neptune ( a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler)
is associated with the fourth ray through its relationship to
buddhi, and to the fourth , or buddhic, plane.
|
7.
Mercury has a close relation to the third ray. (EA 280)
|
|
7.
See #3 above.
|
8.
Mercury has a close relation to the fifth ray, through
its relation to the fifth scheme, the fifth round,
the fifth race and sub-race. “The fifth race is born under Mercury.” (EA 663)
|
|
8.
Aquarius transmits the fifth ray constellationally. Uranus,
the exoteric ruler, (and a veiled hierarchial rulers) can
stand for “exoteric science” (EP 149) and, hence, has fifth ray associations.
Saturn, a possible alternative ruler, is associated with the concrete
mind and, hence, with the fifth principle. Vulcan, (a
veiled hierarchical ruler) relates to the concretion and physical
precipitation, as does the fifth ray.
|
9.
The Moon is the esoteric ruler of Virgo, and transmits the fourth
ray.
|
|
9.
See #6 above.
|
10.
The Moon is anciently related to the third ray, being associated
with dense physical “matter” and with the Moon Chain and the first
solar system in which the third ray was dominant.
|
|
10.
See #3 above.
|
11.
The Moon is also associated with the seventh ray, through
its rulership of the seventh manifested Creative Hierarchy
and its rulership of the dense part of the seventh plane.
|
|
11.
See #5 above.
|
12.
Vulcan is a veiled esoteric ruler in Virgo and transmits
the first ray.
|
|
12.
Aquarius, itself, may have implicate first ray associations.
“Aquarius—expresses the universal
consciousness of the Great Bear” (EA 349) The Great Bear
(as a whole) transmits the first ray. (cf. TCF 146). Aquarius, is the tenth sign on the reversed
wheel, numbering by polarities (Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, etc.)
and thus has numerical resonance with the first ray. Uranus,
the exoteric ruler, transmits the first ray monadically.
(EPI 421) Saturn, a possible alternative ruler in Aquarius, transmits
the first ray probably in its personality, but perhaps
its soul. (EA 450) Moon-veiled Vulcan and Uranus both transmit the first
ray—the first as the monadic ray, the second, probably, as the
soul ray.
|
13.
Vulcan, a veiled esoteric ruler in Virgo, has a close relation
to the number four—to the fourth kingdom (the Human
Kingdom), the fourth kingdom from the human (the
Mineral Kingdom) and to the fourth initiation.
|
|
13.
See #6 above.
|
14.
Vulcan has an association with the second ray, as Vulcan
is connected to the “heart of the sun.” (EA 393)
|
|
14.
See #1 above.
|
15.
Vulcan has associations with the fifth ray through concretion
and the seventh ray, through the mineral kingdom and the
principle of rhythm.
|
|
15.
See #8 above.
|
16.
Neptune is a veiled esoteric ruler of Virgo and transmits
the sixth ray.
|
|
16.
See #2 above.
|
17.
Neptune also transmits the second ray monadically. (EPI
421)
|
|
17.
See #1 above.
|
18.
Neptune is associated with the fourth ray through its rulership
of the fourth or buddhic plane, and with the third
ray through its associations with the “waters” which are “matter.”
(EA 666, 275)
|
|
18.
See #6 above.
|
19.
Jupiter is the hierarchical ruler of Virgo and transmits the second
ray.
|
|
19.
See #1 above.
|
20.
Jupiter also transmits the seventh ray through its association
with “ritualistic worship.” (EA 660)
|
|
20.
See #5 above.
|
21.
Jupiter has a possible connection with the sixth ray through
its exoteric rulership of Sagittarius and its enthusiastic nature.
|
|
21.
See #2 above.
|
22.
It is hard to conceive that Virgo, as a constellation, has no
relation to the seventh ray because of the traits demonstrated
by so many Virgoan individuals. In any case, Virgo is the ruler
of the seventh Creative Hierarchy (if the unmanifested
Hierarchies are included in the numbering).
|
|

This is the symbol of the sign Aquarius—the sign in which the
universality of the water of life will become a factor in human
consciousness; then we shall indeed all sit down eventually to
the communion of bread and wine. He referred indirectly to the
same idea when He spoke of Himself as the ‘water of life,’ assuaging
the thirst of humanity.” (EA 566)

Similarities
and Points of Cooperation Between the Influences |
Similarities
and Points of Cooperation
Between the Zodiacal Influences
A.
Majorly Virgo and Aquarius are both signs of service. And on the
chart on p.333 in Esoteric Astrology, “for it said the Virgo
hides the light which irradiates the world in Aquarius” And that
Aquarius releases Virgo from her load.
So
they both represent different stages of the Christ consciousness.
Virgo in some ways represents the earlier phases of the consciousness,
Aquarius- the later phases when the Christ love is widely distributed
for the utilization of many.
B. Both signs
are habituated to the burdens of service. Duties and responsibilities
are the common lot of the conscientious Virgo and interestingly
the law of service, the third law of the soul is ruled by Pisces,
the sign opposite Virgo.
And Aquarius
clearly is the burden carrier. The shoulders receive great pressure.
And the water pot is carried upon the shoulders. So both signs
are bowed under the weight of service.
C.
Curiously, we see that these two signs are ruled by similar planets
distributed in different ways. Jupiter is a common ruler to both.
So is the Moon, ruling Aquarius hierarchically and Virgo esoterically.
And Neptune
is one of the veiled planets of the Moon. Jupiter is the hierarchical
ruler of Virgo and the esoteric ruler of Aquarius. This means
that both signs are related first of all to the elemental lives
via the Moon.
The so called
"baskets of nourishment" (the 12th, or lowest
creative hierarchy) is ruled by the Moon, and partially by Uranus.
We can see that this is logically the case, as Virgo has so much
to do with the material element and with those aspects of the
material element which are the servants of the higher deva lives
and the servants of humanity, namely the elemental lives.
And of Virgo
it is said, let matter reign. And we also see the sign Aquarius
place in the position of the lowest hierarchy and thus associated
with these elemental lives. Now clearly these lower lives are
in need of service and in need of lifted.
Being low
is a relative state and not only are Virgo and Aquarius concerned
with lifting these lives, but with lifting all lives which are
embedded in matter including the members of the various kingdoms,
animal, mineral and vegetable. Part of this lifting process is
the process of purification and both of these signs have an ecological
consciousness and are involved in cleansing.
Virgo has
long been involved with the process of self perfecting through
cleansing, through sorting things out so no confusion exists towards
removing items which do not belong together and essentially the
state of the mess or the state of dirtiness is one of confusion,
of inappropriate elements being mixed together.
We remember
that counting from the highest of the Hierarchies down that Virgo
is the seventh and hence associated loosely with the seventh Ray.
This theme
of cleansing and purification continues in Aquarius which rules
the seventh of the manifested Hierarchies and is through the labors
of Hercules associated with the cleansing of the Augean stables.
Aquarius cleanses
through the process of circulation whereas Virgo cleanses more
through the process of discrimination. In any case, both of these
signs are involved in redemption through cleansing.
D.
Another similarity shows us the Christ consciousness being born
in the heart in Virgo and the Christ consciousness begin born
in the group in Aquarius. This is taking place under the influence
of Jupiter and Neptune, two of the planets most associated with
the second Ray.
Although the
Rays being distributed through Virgo and Aquarius are very different—two
and six in the case of Virgo and five in the case of Aquarius—both have a strong focus in relation to the concrete mind. Virgo as
a whole and especially through Mercury rules the analytical processes
of the concrete mind and Aquarius through its ruler Uranus and
through the fifth Ray which passes through it, has a natural connection
with science and with the concrete mind.
The natives
of both signs are capable of sharing a kind of practical objectivity
and a degree of cool detachment. It is natural for both to stand
back and apart and to consider that which is under view from an
objective point of view.
E. Both
signs are in a way, signs of birth. The birth conferred in Virgo
is the birth into the Christ consciousness. The birth conferred
in Aquarius or shall we call it an entry is an entry into a more
universal state of consciousness.
It should
be observed that both of these signs through their association
with the second Ray, via Jupiter and veiled Neptune and with the
seventh Ray via their position on the scale of creative Hierarchies
are much involved in the healing process, almost inescapably so.
Virgo is perhaps associated to heal by more conventional means
and through the administering of herbs and medicines.
Aquarius,
on the other hand, heals much more in relation to the etheric
body and using the processes brought forward in vibrational medicine.
In this case, we see Virgo perhaps more related to the physical
body and Aquarius more related to the etheric body. Aquarius is
in fact one of the major signs associated with the etheric body.
It also seems
likely that Vulcan with its rulership over the power of vibration
would be connected with vibrational medicine. And interestingly
Vulcan is, again, one of the veiled rulers in both Virgo and Aquarius.
In Esoteric
Healing, page 143, "The etheric vehicle
from the circulatory angle, is governed by the Moon, as it veils
Vulcan.) — So Vulcan
is one of the rulers of the etheric body and considering its relation
to the life force and the force of will and the relation of Taurus
to Prana, Taurus being ruled esoterically and Hierarchically by
Vulcan, we do see the reason for this connection.
It might also
be said that those born in or under Virgo and Aquarius have strong
opinions, are in fact opinionated, Aquarius being a sign of fixed
air and Virgo perhaps the most logical and rational of the signs
given the rulership and exaltation of Mercury in Virgo. So opinions
that are arrived at are well reasoned and held firmly.
There is also
a strong critical streak found in both of these signs for essentially
they are signs of perfectionism, Virgo being able to detect all
the flaws in any system and to set about the process of correcting
them, that process of flaw detection, often turning into criticism
and Aquarius a sign in which the new and better way in contrast
to the older way is always seen. And so we find ourselves involved
in the over throw of the old. And its replacement by that which
is more radical, more archetypal, more related to the truer pattern
of things.
One of the
most material connections between these two signs is their relation
to matter in general. Virgo clearly relates to the Virgin mother,
matter as mother, and to Mulaprakriti which is the great matrix
out of which all forms are born. Aquarius, interestingly, is associated
with the great waters of space even though in fact it is an air
sign. Interestingly, the constellations Pisces and Aquarius do
seem to have stars which overlap emphasizing the fluid nature
of the Aquarian sign.
F.
In one way Aquarius, in its relation to Uranus, Ouranos
is related to space in general and to the great ocean of energies.
Another similarity is through the process of nurturance. For Virgo
is the great mothering, nurturing sign which sustains the subjective
entity in matter through providing the sustenance that it needs.
And
Aquarius being the sign which at least at present governs the spiritual
hierarchy, the same nurturing function is found, for Hierarchy nurtures
humanity with wave after wave of useful subtle energy.
