|
11.
Associated with the inaugural first, the blinding,
surmounting third, the revelatory fifth and
the resurrecting seventh initiations, but especially
with the third (EA 388-389) and seventh (EA 304) initiations—transfiguration and
resurrection. The exalted Sun in Aries can be understood
as relating to each of these initiations.
|
|
11.
Associated with the establishing of relationship between
Father, Mother and Child at the first initiation
(cf. EA 388); the clarifying,
mind-illumining second initiation (EA 157, GWP 271); the crucifying,
illusion-renouncing fourth (EA 472); and the resurrecting seventh
initiations (the second ray initiation of fulfilled Love-Wisdom).
(cf. R&I 88-89)
|
12.
Correlated to the synthesizing crown center
and the ajna center—considered as the center of personality
direction. Also influencing the impulsive solar plexus
and the propagative center of sexuality—the sacral
center, in relation to which, the opposites are brought
together. The fertility of the Ram suggests the sacral association.
Some connection with the based of the spine center is also
possible, as Mars and Mercury (Aries’ first two rulers)
rule kundalini “latent” and “in intelligent
activity” respectively. Its hierarchical ruler, Uranus,
transmits the seventh ray and is, thus, numerically related
to this seventh (lowest) center.
|
|
12.
Gemini (the third sign) can be associated with the
thought-configuring, articulating throat center under
the third ray; also with the duality-resolving, unifying
heart center, and with the manipulating/blessing
centers in the palms. Dualistic Gemini (ruled by
oscillatory Mercury) can also be associated with the dualistic,
decision-making, polarity-integrating ajna center,
and with the system-uniting “kundalini” at the
base of the spine. “Mercury demonstrates kundalini in intelligent
activity” (EA 181)
|
13.
The zodiacal signs influence the monad of every human being
(EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Aries impels
the monad forth upon its aeonial pilgrimage. The sense of
pure selfhood which characterizes monadic awareness
is enhanced by Aries. Further, Aries endows the monad with
its inherent omnipotence relative to the human energy
system.
|
|
13.
The zodiacal signs influence the monad of every human being
(EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from
Gemini makes it possible for the “Brother” who
is the “prodigal son” to go forth into a “far
country” (as the monad-in-substantial-immersion),
and yet, remain ‘at home’ within the Father’s House
as the “elder Brother” Who did not go forth (i.e.,
as the monad undiminished upon its own level of consciousness).
Thus is the monad “in the world yet not of
the world”. Gemini endows the monad with its all-pervasive
omnipresence relative to the human energy system.
“Having pervaded the entire Universe with a fragment
of myself, I remain.”
|
14.
Within the spiritual triad—associated principally
with atma, the spiritual will as it reflects divine
will and law. Aries is also associated with the birth of
ideas in buddhi (or at least their reception
from the buddhic realm) and also with their abstract formulation
within the sphere of higher manas.
|
|
14.
Within the spiritual triad—Gemini, the third
sign, is related to higher manas (the third
aspect of the spiritual triad). Higher manas formulates
into abstract thought the revelations of the ‘idea-patterns’
to be found upon the buddhic plane. Gemini, as its dualistic
symbol reveals, is also related to the divine love, pure
reason and intuitive revelations of buddhi, the second
aspect of the spiritual triad.
|
15.
In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness
(and causal body) through which it expresses—Aries
governs the persistent will-to-incarnate “Let form
again be sought”, and the first impulses (emanating
from the plane of mind) towards descent onto the physical
plane. “Aries—is connected with soul intention,
the vibratory activity of which (under impulse from the
Monad) initiates the successive involutionary periods which
produce appearance upon the physical plane.) (EA 302)
|
|
15.
In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness
(and causal body) through which it expresses—Gemini
can be seen as governing the pulsations of Solar-Angelic
thought and vitality which rhythmically stimulate the personality.
Gemini can be associated with the attempt the Solar Angel
to communicate with and instruct the personality.
|
16.
Within the Personality — Aries can be identified with the
ruling and assertive qualities of the mental
nature; with the impulses and passions of
the astral nature; with the forceful but irregular
vigor of the etheric nature; and, generally, with
the muscular strength of the dense physical
nature. Aries is especially related to the lower mental
vehicle. (EA 92) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence,
depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)
|
|
16.
Within the Personality — Gemini can be identified with the
flexible associative processes and informational
receptivity of the lower mental nature, which become,
eventually, especially responsive to the antahkarana; with
the bi-polar fluctuations of the astral nature, vacillating
conflicted between the pairs of opposites (EA 362); in general, with the etheric nature
and its network of interplaying vital-electric currents
and with the sprightliness and rejuvenation
of the dense physical nature. Gemini is especially
related to the etheric vehicle. (EA 352) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence,
depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)

|
|
Gemini
|
1. Expressive, principally, of the first
or will aspect of divinity. “Aries is the focal point of the expression of
the first aspect of divinity, the will aspect.” (EA
194) Some third aspect may enter in relation
to activity and , depending upon whether the seventh
ray is interpreted in terms of the first or third
rays.
|
|
1. Expressive, principally, of the second
or Love aspect of divinity. (EA 351) “It is the constellation Gemini and its inherent
second ray influence which control every one of the
pairs of opposites in the Great Wheel.” (EA 346)
Gemini, ‘Lord of Intelligence’, is also closely linked
by numerical affinity to the third or Intelligence
aspect. “…Gemini is the third sign and embodies what is
called ‘a third potency’…” (EA 355)
|
2.
Cosmically, preeminently associated with the
Great Bear: “Aries is, as might be expected, closely connected
with the Great Bear, but peculiarly so with one of the
stars called The Pointers;….” (EA 195) “The Great Bear—Aries—Pluto—Shamballa.”
(EA 416) “Aries—Libra—The Sun (which
are an expression of the Great Bear) bring about that
focussing of energy in the life of the disciple which
makes it possible for him to function consciously and
with intention upon the Path of Initiation.” (EA
466) “Aries, the initiator of impulses (either
the impulse to incarnate or the impulse to return to
the originating source) is closely in touch with one
of the stars in the Great Bear to which we give the
name ‘Pointer’ in common parlance. This
Pointer is a ‘major star of direction’ because
through it (in this world cycle) flows the will to unify
and to bring about synthesis.” (EA 482)
|
|
2.
Pre-eminently associated with Sirius. “1. Gemini—forms a point of entrance for cosmic
energy from Sirius.” (EA 349) Sirius and Gemini
are both related to Masonry. (EA 350) Sirius and Gemini were active together
in the individualization process. (EA 355) Gemini is also associated
with the Pleiades. “Gemini—Sagittarius—Mercury
(which are an expression of the Pleiades) enable the
Probationary Disciple to pass on to the Path of Accepted
Discipleship.” (EA 466)

Subtle Relationships
Between Rays,
Zodiacal and Planetary Energies
Aries
|
In Comparison with |
Gemini
|
1.
Aries transmits the first ray constellationally.
Aries is also the first sign of the zodiac on both the
reversed and clockwise wheels, and on the wheel which numbers
the signs by polarity (Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, etc.) All
this reinforces the association of Aries with the first
ray.
|
|
1.
The Earth is the hierarchical ruler of Gemini, and transmits
(however weakly in this second solar system) the first
ray as its monadic ray.
|
2.
Aries transmits the seventh ray constellationally.
|
|
2.
There are no seventh ray transmissions in Gemini.
|
3.
Counting from Pisces clockwise, Aries becomes the twelfth
sign, and is thus, by numerological addition, numerically resonant
with the number three and with the third ray.
“Let form again be sought.” Aries plunges into the material
world at the outset of every new cycle.
|
|
3.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac on the
reversed wheel and, therefore, has numerical affinity with the
third ray. “Ray 3.—Active Intelligence, under the influence
of this third sign, Gemini, slowly conditioning the etheric
body.” (EA 357) Mercury is the exoteric ruler of Gemini
and is closely associated with the third ray.(EA 280). The Earth is the hierarchical ruler
of Gemini and transmits the third ray as its personality
ray.
|
4.
Mars, the exoteric ruler of Aries, transmits the sixth
ray.
|
|
4.
Venus transmits the sixth ray—very probably monadically,
as it is the “home” of the planetary Logos of the sixth
ray. (cf. EA 595)
|
5.
Mars also transmits the first ray, because its
“School” trains “those whose work is along
the lines of the destroyer.”
(TCF 1179). It is the first ray which is the Ray
of the Destroyer.
|
|
5.
See #1 above.
|
6.
Mars manifests as the astral body of a great third
ray Entity and, hence, is aligned with the transmission of the
third ray. The physical body of Mars must be more the
third than seventh ray. (EPII 99)
|
|
6.
See #3 above.
3.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac on the
reversed wheel and, therefore, has numerical affinity with the
third ray
|
7.
Mars is closely associated with the fifth ray,
because it governs the five senses and rules science. (EA 215)
|
|
7.
Mercury, the exoteric ruler of Gemini, probably transmits
the fifth ray monadically (as ‘Lord of Manas’). Further,
Mercury rules the fifth race and is connected with the
fifth scheme. Venus, the esoteric ruler of Gemini, transmits
the fifth ray, presumably as its soul ray.
|
8.
Mercury, the esoteric ruler of Aries, transmits the fourth
ray.
|
|
8.
Mercury, the exoteric ruler of Gemini, transmits the
fourth ray. Earth is considered the fourth planet
from the Sun and is symbolized by the fourfold cross within
the circle. Venus has fourth ray associations with the
harmony and beauty side of the fourth ray—not with the
conflict side. As well, Gemini (with Sagittarius) is associated
with the fourth ray. (EA 357)
|
9.
Mercury, the esoteric ruler of Aries, has a strong affinity
with third ray, just as has the Moon. (cf.
EA 280). Mars, the exoteric ruler of Aries, participates
in the expression of a great third ray Entity
|
|
9.
See #3 above.
3.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac on the
reversed wheel and, therefore, has numerical affinity with the
third ray
|
10.
Mercury, the esoteric ruler of Aries, possibly transmits the
fifth ray monadically (as Lord of Manas). Further, Mercury
rules the fifth race and is connected with the fifth
scheme and the fifth round. “The fifth race is born under
Mercury. (the Aryan
race. A.A.B.) (SD II. 32., EA 663)
|
|
10.
See #7 above.
Mercury, the exoteric
ruler of Gemini, probably transmits the fifth ray monadically
(as ‘Lord of Manas’). Further, Mercury rules the fifth
race and is connected with the fifth scheme. Venus, the
esoteric ruler of Gemini, transmits the fifth ray, presumably
as its soul ray.
|
11.
Uranus, the hierarchical ruler of Aries, transmits the seventh
ray, probably as its soul ray.
|
|
11.
See #2 above.
|
12.
Uranus, the hierarchical ruler of Aries, the first sign,
transmits the first ray “esoterically”, i.e., monadically.
(EPI 421)
|
|
12.
See #1 above.
|
13.
. Uranus, the hierarchical ruler of Aries, is closely connected
to the third ray which it probably transmits as the personality
ray. (cf. EA 200, 238)
|
|
13.
See #3 above.
3.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac on the
reversed wheel and, therefore, has numerical affinity with the
third ray
|
14.
Uranus stands for “exoteric science” which is on the fifth
ray (EA 149)
|
|
14.
See #7 above.
|
15.
Uranus stands in a line of transmission along the second ray
from Sirius and Pisces. Further, Uranus participates, probably
as the mental body, in the expression of a great second
ray Entity. (EPII 99)
|
|
15.
Gemini transmits the second ray constellationally Gemini
is the eleventh sign of the zodiac on the clockwise wheel beginning
with Aries, hence has numerical affinity with the number two,
and, hence, with the second ray. Venus, the esoteric
ruler, is “pure love wisdom” and transmits the second
ray, probably through its personality, The Earth, hierarchical
ruler, has a second ray soul, and thus transmits the
second ray.
|
16.
The Sun, exalted in Aries, is the veiling transmitter of the
second ray, and, as a star, transmits the second
ray in its own right (through its personality and its soul).
Its primary or major monadic ray may also be the
second.
|
|
16.
See # 15 immediately above.
|
17.
Vulcan often substitutes for the Sun, and the Sun is exalted
in Aries. Vulcan is related to the “heart of the sun”,
and hence, in some mysterious way, to the second ray.

Similarities
and Points of Cooperation
Between the Zodiacal Influences
Emphasis upon developing

“The potencies of
Gemini-Aries, instilled into our planetary life via Mercury, focus the
energy of the conditioning will-to-be upon the Earth, producing initial
beginnings as in incarnation, or initiation, or the start of organisation
as well as organisms”
(EA 358-359)
A. Both
of these signs are keenly associated with intelligence and both
are therefore associated with the lower mental vehicle. This
similarity of association is suggested by the fact that both signs are
both ruled by the planet Mercury. Gemini exoterically and Aries esoterically.
Mercury of course is the ruler of all mental processes generally speaking.
Both signs are known for rapidity of action and for a degree of discontinuity,
although Aries may prove relentless once its passions are aroused. Both
signs are additionally characterized by spontaneity and adaptability,
a refusal to be hampered by the constraints of circumstance.
B. The
natives of both signs evidence unusual youthfulness and vitality. Perhaps
this is so because Gemini is associated not only with the mental body
but with the etheric body and the circulation of the vital airs. It
is well known that the vital body is controlled by thought and Aries
represents the birthplace of all thought. The Aries individual thus
is capable of energizing the vital etheric body through the power of
thought. Both signs are essentially dynamic and convey the power to
move rapidly through space.
C. Representatives
of both signs must work hard to achieve even a degree of stability.
Whereas in traditional astrology, Aries rules the head and brain, Gemini
is also much associated with the brain and brain processes. From a certain
point of view Aries is the father and Gemini is the Son who resembles
the Father. This is considering Gemini as representative of the second
aspect of divinity and Taurus of the third or matter aspect.
Not only are Aries and Gemini associated with the lower mental vehicle
but they can conceivably be associated with the Causal Body as well.
D. Let
us consider Aries and Gemini in relation to the periodic vehicles and
all the various ‘bodies’ through which the human spirit
expresses. Aries like Leo stands for the dominant nature of
the soul within the causal body as it asserts itself over the lunar
personality. “I rule because I am.” Gemini stands for the
hermaphroditic nature of the higher Self, the union within the higher
Self of the positive and negative poles. Aries, related as it is to
the first house of the horoscope is connected with all bodies:
the physical body, the personality considered as a body, the causal
body and even the monadic auric sheath of spirit and matter. The essential
dualities of spirit and matter meet in the causal body; Gemini as the
sign symbolic of the union of all dualities (of which spirit and matter
are prime duality) thus governs this middle sign.
E. It
can be said that both Aries and Gemini are associated with the ajna
centre. Aries rules the directives of the ajna centre as a
centre of personality assertion. Gemini is associated with the dualistic
decision-making function of the ajna centre with its two petals. The
ajna centre is principally the mental centre which naturally involves
the energies of these two highly mental signs. In addition, Taurus can
equally be associated with this centre thus giving Aries, Taurus and
Gemini a focal interest in this directing centre.
