Sun or Ascendant in Aquarius with Ray 2

.

Sun Aquarius (or Ascendant Aquarius), R2P (or R2S)
Plus Constellationally Transmitted R5

A strong mutual reinforcement of ray and astrological energies emerges due to the transmission of the second ray through Jupiter, the esoteric ruler of Aquarius, and monadically through Neptune, one of the three veiled hierarchical rulers of Aquarius.

The operative category of reinforcement would be Strong by Rulership—Class 2 and Class 3. Disciples, advanced disciples and initiates will be those who most respond to this Aquarius/second ray interplay. The response will be, perhaps, strongest for those responding primarily to the esoteric ruler. Neptune is only one of three veiled hierarchical rulers of Aquarius, and it is only in its monadic aspect that the second ray is to be found.

So while the effect upon initiates could be significant, it would only be at a very high level of advancement—perhaps at the fourth initiation when the heart center {at that time influenced by Neptune and the second ray} comes under special stimulation. This combination—Neptune, second ray, heart—brings the energy of the buddhic plane and buddhi to the heart for wide expression. This ‘flooding’ of the heart with buddhic energy is exactly appropriate at the fourth degree.

One other mild reinforcement appears because of the strange second ray association with Uranus, the exoteric ruler. It is not given that the second ray in any way “rules” or “governs” one of the vehicles of Uranus—at least not one of the periodical vehicles—but, nevertheless, Uranus is sufficiently resonant to the second ray to be an agent of transmission for it: Sirius—Pisces—Uranus—Hierarchy—Heart—Solar Plexus.

From the decanate perspective, Venus transmits the second ray {probably through its personality vehicle} and Venus rules the third decanate {in esoteric order} and the first decanate {in exoteric order}.

Selfish, Self-Centered or Self-Serving Human Being

Selfish, Self-centered or Self-Serving Human Being

i.    The superficial extension and diversification of the self-concerned Aquarius person combines with an inability to establish clear boundaries—an inability induced within the insufficiently spiritualized personality by the second ray. (These undesirable qualities would be in the nature of a relapse or reversion to a formerly bound condition, as it is not possible to have a first or second ray personality unless one is at least an aspirant. The first or second ray may, however, enter the personality by other lines of influence.)

ii.     Superficial affiliativeness. Having too many friends. ‘Belonging’ (a second ray word) to too many groups.

iii.     Losing one’s center. Participating in so many activities, but forgetting who one really is. Loss of individuality.

iv.     Defining oneself by one’s affiliations. “Birds of a feather flock together”. But can one tell one bird from another?

v.     Going along with the group for the sake of ease. Overly-receptive. Indiscriminate.

vi.     Overly hopeful in relation to future possibilities. Naïve about the changes of instituting the new. Overlooking the entrenched, regressive instincts and desires of humanity (related to the signs Taurus and Scorpio—square to Aquarius).

vii.     Rendered ineffective by the inability to focus and concentrate one’s forces.

viii.    Often well meaning, but futile or “flaky”. Insubstantial and with no depth.

Advanced Human Being; Aspirant; Disciple: Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign with the ray of either the ray of the personality or soul.

Advanced Human Being; Aspirant; Disciple

i.    The cooperativeness and humanitarianism of the advancing Aquarius individual combine with a growing capacity to love and include induced within the spiritually unfolding personality by the second ray.

ii.     Recognizing oneself as ‘belonging’ to the human race—a human family.

iii.     Valuing humanity. Recognizing the fruits of human creativity and human culture. Recognition of human progress in the arts and sciences.

iv.     Feeling humanitarian promptings. Realizing that one may, in fact,  be one’s “brother’s keeper”. A sense of fellowship emerges.

v.     On the Path of Discipleship: beginning to think of oneself more as a member of a group than as an individual (yet, withal, not sacrificing one’s individuality). “Group consciousness” becomes something of a reality.

vi.     On the Path of Discipleship: the emergence of group mind and group creativity.

vii.     On the Path of Discipleship: the emergence of group love.

viii.    On the Path of Discipleship: the first faint emergence of group-will.

ix.     On the Path of Discipleship: beginning to understand something of the Ashram and the meaning of Ashramic affiliation.

Advanced Disciple; the Initiate: Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign with the ray as either the ray of the personality or soul.

Advanced Disciple; the Initiate
Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign, Aquarius, with the second ray as either the ray of the personality or soul

i.    The power to bear the burden of serving the soul and personality of humanity—a power increasingly possessed by the soul-infused disciple/initiate born in or under the sign Aquarius, combines with the abundant growth of self-forgetful Love-Wisdom induced within the soul or spiritualized personality by the second ray.

ii.     True affiliation with Hierarchy—an essentially second ray group, governed by the energies of the sign, Aquarius.

iii.     Group mind, creativity and group love are in full flower. The sense of identity has transcended individuality. One is identified with larger and larger wholes (Jupiter, esoteric ruler of Aquarius, and the second ray).

iv.     Cooperation with the Ashram is a fact in consciousness.

v.     The state of “Ashramic intimacy” is emerging.

vi.     One is functioning with one’s group according to the Law of Group Progress.

vii.     Participating, through the release of the energies of abundance, in widespread healing—of individuals, groups and of humanity as a whole. Thus, generous distribution of all accumulated energies for the general amelioration of the human condition.

viii.    Carrying the “burden of humanity”.

ix.     Eventually, carrying the “burden of the world” as the Hierarchy does.

x.     The “World Server” motivated by love and wisely understanding the problems of humanity.

xi.     Under this influence, membership in the Hierarchy can be achieved.

4.     Note: SOL or G

5.     Expresses universally through all centers but especially through the sacral center via Uranus and heart center via Jupiter. Expression via the heart in the head and, pervasively, through the entire head center is also likely. Basal center expression via the Moon/Uranus (fire of matter) is also likely.

5.     Expresses through the heart chakra; the “heart in the head” and also through the spleen as solar prana on our planet

Discover Potentials to be Derived from Energetic Similarities

Discover Potentials to be Derived from
Energetic Similarities Between Aquarius and R2

Utilize these similarities to further understand how these two energies may combine with or reinforce each other (for better of for worse) when they are found within the same energy system.

A.     Expression of Brotherhood: Both influences lead to the expression of brotherhood.

B.     Outpouring and Sharing: Both energies incline those they influence to share. The idea of outpouring is common to both Aquarius (the “overflowing cup”) and the second ray (the Sun which seems never to cease its outpouring, shining “upon the just and the unjust”).

C.     Promoting Group Consciousness: Both energies are active in promoting group consciousness.

D.     Vision—of Betterment: Both influences are related to vision. Aquarius confers the utopian vision, and the second ray a vision of ameliorated conditions. Always the second ray is associated with light and the eye.

E.     Synthesis: Both Aquarius and the second ray are connected with synthesis as the second-aspect expression of the will.

F.     Selfless Service and the Heart: Both energies eventually affect the heart center and incline, therefore, to the outpouring of selfless service. In this respect, it must be remembered that esoterically, second ray Jupiter rules Aquarius.

G.     Decentralization: Both energies are energies of decentralization.

H.     Democracy: The preferred mode of government for both Aquarius and the second ray is democracy.

I.    Abundance: Both energies are associated with the factor of abundance. Jupiter is involved in both cases.

J.     Relation to the Processes of the Second Initiation: The second initiation is the “Baptism” involving cleansing and purification. Aquarius bestows in abundance these healing and cleansing energies. The foremost cleansing and purifying energy is love, conferred by the second ray (through Jupiter, Venus and, to a degree, Neptune) at the time of the second initiation. Under Aquarius and the second ray, true group love and fellowship begin to mean something  real to the disciple/initiate whose astral body is dying to selfishness.

K.     Possible Association with the Third Initiation: Aquarius, bringing perspective and the dispelling of illusion is potentially active at the third degree, just as the energy of Capricorn is potentially active. It is possible to enter the door of any particular initiation through the instrumentality of a number of signs. The third degree introduces the first aspect as a conscious factor in the life, but, of equal importance, the second aspect, the soul, is placed in the seat of ascendancy—it dominates. The second ray is archetypally resonant with the soul (no matter what may be the individual ray of the soul). Equally, the second ray is (with the fifth) deeply connected with the brilliant and luminous experiences of the initiate at the time of the third degree. Aquarius and the second ray, therefore, potentially, guide the initiate of the third degree into a luminous world of enlightened thought and activated intuition—a world of unity and impending synthesis.

L.     Possible Association with the Fourth Initiation: Aquarius is most frequently the sign present at a human being’s final compulsory incarnation.(Others may follow, but they are deliberately chosen.) The fourth degree releases the initiate from all further need to return to incarnated life. He renounces all, and for the sake of love (which is infusing itself into his consciousness via the buddhic plane) he “empties the bowl” simultaneously draining the “cup of karma” to the dregs. The point is that in these final acts, the motivation is love, which connects the fourth initiation to the second ray and to the heart center (the active center at this degree). While each initiation is classically associated with certain signs and rays, a number of other signs and rays may play an important part in promoting the initiatory processes, and these alternative signs and rays should be acknowledged and their relationship to the initiation in question, thought through.
